First day of school 2011

Monday Alex returned to school she is now in Grade 1 and has a new teacher, she loves school so that is a good thing and with her books and lunch went to school a happy young lady.

Alex has a new uniform this year to as preps at the school only wear the sports side so I have had to organize her formal uniform as well and here is my big school girl dressed and ready that morning and before school assembly  ♥
First Day at School

we had a  few issues this last week as Alex got a rash on her tummy and it was similar to Chicken pox My heart sank as we have been exposed twice and missed it but now school is returning plus a camp booked in for next month would have to be cancelled again, so Saturday morning I take her to the Dr. who put my mind at ease yes it does look similar to chicken pox but it is actually mite bites due to all the flood water we have had a big sigh of relief from me as I do not have to cancel another Childhood Cancer event this early in the new year and we now have the camp to look forward to in February.

second day at school the two fire trucks were next door to the school, girls got excited seeing them there

today is Australia day and a public holiday so the girls are home, it is another hot summer day in QLD, girls are playing Wii and have been outside with the chicks etc, then Alex had an accident, both Robyn and herself wanted the baby chicks out of the cage and by doing so Alex got hurt by the gate so have put iodine on it and will be watching for infection as not sure when she had her last tetanus shot but this is what we have been told to do as its a scratch
here is a photo :(

it looks better now no redness around it but well kids will be kids and she is so full of energy for longer periods so uses it, today she crashed for 2 hours in my bad though and as she was grizzly I laid down with her like she asked ♥♥

Happy 4th Birthday Robyn ♥

Robyn turned 4 today and Alex starts grade 1.  tomorrow
looking back on the year we had Robyn is special it is before cancer and Alex was a loving big sister to Robyn, My Miss Roe as Alex (2.5) called her little sister ♥♥

8lb 6 oz Robyn decided it was time after all we had been through 3 ECV ( where they turn bubs into the right position with no luck I can not carry a child head down only transverse now have been told due to hip bones not giving enough room for bubs to descend)  she was still a surprise for Me and daddy as we decided not to find out what we were having. I needed something to look forward to as it was another C-Sec.
was great watching both our girls grow up together the last 4 years and Alex really looked out for her sister even when cancer was here she still asked for stickers and things for her little sister ♥ now Robyn does the same asking for Allie ♥ hope this bond keeps growing between them as the future is an open door for us all, and yes they do fight but are always hugging each other my blue eyed princess's

breaky was at Mac Donald's by request of the birthday Girl, mainly for the playground hehe

 Unwrapping her pressies ♥

and if you are Brave Join Alex's team and help fight against blood cancer
~* Join Us Be Brave Colour or Shave :D

I am doing this as one of the Chemo's Alex had also can cause leukaemia as a secondary it may not be for Childhood cancer but it does help fight for a cure which is my main goal

even a small amount will add up to help this great cause

Robyn returns to Preschool tomorrow so that is good but we have to still pay for last week even though they are closed and no power the Child care centre is trying to get it credited back to all the families as we were all effected by this disaster, Alex is ready for school on Monday and we have a family get together on Sunday for Robyn's big day turning 4 she will love it but still waiting on mail to receive gifts from interstate that could have been lost in the floods :( but who cares its about us being a family and we will still make it a great day with what we have and we are one of the lucky ones that still has everything except for what we have donated to others that need it

we have been contacted by the RCH to make sure we are ok and also Camp Quality and yes we got in for the camp :) so 4 weeks til our first camp if the rain holds off as its up on the sunshine coast which was also effected by floods,  4 weeks til Alex gets her next lot of immunizations and then we wait til March for the next CT scan and Dr Visit :) slowly getting further apart by the end of the year we will either be on 3 monthly of 6 monthly visits and every small step is a stepping stone forward.

always hug your loved ones every day as we never know what the future holds for us and just look at Queensland and Victoria in Australia, major floods and the toll is still rising, My heart goes out to all those that still do not know how family are that are missing but pray they are OK and just cut off from everyone ♥

Australia now set to recover from disaster

I Live in Queensland  Australia and we got hit with the 100 year flood this week yeah the last one was in 1974 so still working on how its the 100 year flood. but it was devastating over 75% of Queensland was hit including out place of residence. we are one of the lucky homes to be up but it did get to our street so still close,
Tuesday night 11th Jan.  all of Ipswich and surrounding areas was on high alert even getting a text message warning about it ( this was sent to all services addressed in the hit zone)
Water levels that night 11th Jan 2011
tennis courts well almost to the roof now, end of our street

Wednesday we were cut of from over half our town and no power to many as well as no food shops available unlike so many we got money into our bank the day after the floods so missed stocking up on so much, milk is our hardest thing to find now and it is one of the few things Alex will still drink alot of  but I am just thankful that Hubby was sent home when he was as the road closed minutes after he passed and we would not have seen each other for 3 days and that Alex is not under going active treatment  ( but the hospital did call us to make sure we were ok for Anything Alex may need including hospital access which was no access for 30 hours + )

12th Flood day
our main  bridge it is now down to 1 meter over the bridge it peeked at 4+ meters over
near our place day after water peaked 13th Jan

we got to meet a pilot that has been volunteering with the searching etc he let some kids check out his helicopter Alex went shy but Robyn loved it hehe 14th Jan

yesterday 14th Jan we finally got some food not much to chose from but its nice to have some essentials like toilet paper and tin stuff to keep us going til supplies start to get higher when major roads start re opening. No mail since Tuesday either so we are still sort of cut off and hoping we don't see more rain

we helped out by donating essentials like soap shampoo etc plus nappies as we are now a nappy free house :), and all the girls old cloths as so many lost everything and these are not much but will take the edge off for them ♥  we also helped friends out a swap sort of we offered hot shower and power to charge phones etc and a washing machine use, and they gave us toilet paper to see us through :) we did offer the freezer but they had other friends that also helped them.

was not a good day to start seeing floods as My dad drowned in 2009 while Alex was undergoing radiation and chemo, and Tuesday was his birthday
just hope 2011 is now done with the bad and we all can start to look forward to the good :)

Australia was hit hard this week Queensland over 75% is a disaster zone, Victoria flooding too and Western Australia had fires the start of the week, so we are proud Aussies and will build back up how ever long it takes  we have Australia day in just over a week to look forward too also :)
plus Robyn's 4th Birthday next weekend but nothing to do now due to flood damages, so just a small family get together now then Alex returns to school on Monday Grade 1

Queensland hit By Floods

today would be my Dad's 71st Birthday Happy Heavenly Birthday Dad Miss you heaps♥♥♥ R.I.P.  (11-01-1940 to 22-06-2009) and we are in the middle of a natural disaster with water levels dangerously high around us.

I so hope we see rain ease so this wall of water ( estimated to be larger than the Sydney harbour :o   ) can ease up and families can start to recover ♥♥
flood photo galery online

we are on high alert here lucky we are up from the river but very close and water expected to hit close to 1974 levels if not over, not good for so many

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/national/brisbane-flood-alert-as-wivenhoe-threatens-to-spill-over/story-e6frf7l6-1225985422016

this dam is stopping most coming down to us but we are still getting raising water.

we are staying put as we are save but the roads around us are slowly flooding and may get damaged with the added debris and stuff rushing down the rivers and creeks. and torrential rain still hitting us with storms what a lovely summer we are having :/ our local radio station is down so we are only relying on FB and the tv reports but they are covering the Brisbane area and trying to get info for our area,

praying for those that are badly effected by this bad weather and extra water ♥

toowoomba flash flood that hit yesterday and its still heading our way

Happy Camping to look forward too

so far we have missed out on camps last year and the year before one due to late registration and as so many have been on the list and well it looks like 2011 is going to be a fun one already, we just got notification to attend our First Camp Quality Camp soon and we are now just hoping school and pre-school do not expose us to anything which will cancel these events as well, like the 3 Christmas parties cancelled due to 2 chicken pox exposures, but I could never expose a sick child so I did what I would like others to do if we were still on the treatment side.

the girls are also on the list for their first 4-8 years camp so hope they like the time away from Mum and dad for 2 nights I am scared about this but think it will be good for them and us we do not get me time very often but do miss them when they are not with us ♥♥♥

Scan day and Dr Visit No.1. for 2011

wow we are now in the new year
2011
this was Alex last year Jan 2010 it is so good to see her now with hair, full off energy and healthy ♥♥♥

end of treatment and no NGT now small steps forward for us all

Wednesday the 5th Jan:~ today we had an early start like normal with ultrasounds and X-Rays due to fasting etc I like to get in early so she isn't hungry to long.

Hospital play ground

Ultrasound all stable still :)

Dr Kaffuffle

Mazz Dr Tickles and Red Nose Alex lol

CCS playground and CCS hat

we had the Ultrasound at 8.45am but we arrived early so the X-Ray was done first and was an easy time all looked good :).  Wednesdays are bone clinic days to so they do get busy at radiology, Alex has her DS , we also applied for Alex's bravery beads that working wonders now do in the hospital. they will back date it for all the treatment etc she has had. I also finally got to meet the members at CCS ( Childhood Cancer Support) Alex got 4 hats so we are keeping them in the car for when we are out and really need one :) she also got 2 butterfly rings (one for Miss Robyn) and a CCS scarf, I also found out I can park in their car-park when we have hospital trips and this will save us some money with parking fee's, I also donated our cot and baby toys to them for the families that are so far from home to use ♥ My little give back to a great cause. Great Job CCS its good to know there are groups out there for families that need then especially those that are so far from Home
Next CT is booked for the 9th March this is an extra 2 weeks added so slowly getting further apart but we will be back in the hospital on the 11th February for Alex's Immunizations to be done almost all done now :)
Today was Robyn's first day back at Pre-school for 2011, she didn't look happy when we dropped her off as she had to go into the "kindy blue" room and she is not a baby but had a good day in the end ♥

Tuesday the 4th Jan:~ we went out to the hatchery to get 2 new baby Chicks (one day olds and they sexed them so we should be 90% lucky this time to get girls) these babies are so tiny and I was there for Lee-lee and Rainbow at hatching, Alex was sad as she really wanted black so the hatchery always have different colours so we got what she wanted, now to deal with them inside for a couple of weeks then they can Join Lee-lee and Rainbow can move on to a new home. as he is crowing more still Croaking really but do not want to disturb the neighbours to much.

I also got a call from the hospital as with all the holidays and so forth I forgot to call them to say we would be in this week for scans etc Oh well all good now

Sunday the 2nd Jan :~ Daddy did temp tattoos on the girls was a task as Robyn annoyed him while doing alex's and would not stay still for her own lol but the outcome was cool here are some Pics.

Alex is still annoying Daddy to have another as hers was done well but it started to wash off last night so 2 not so clear ones and she is sitting behind me pulling every string in the book to get her own way ♥♥♥ Poor Daddy having that in his ear.

Daddy gave in after a very sad Alex but she did say Sorry to him too ♥♥
