School Term Ending & Easter

wow this is the last week of term OMG that has gone so fast, Alex is doing well at school and loves it she gets tired though
the class (Prep) with yrs 1,2, and 3 are going on an excursion on Thursday to the lone pine koala sanctuary I could have gone but think we have enough to deal with to not spend more on a trip with the school as Robyn and I would need fuel and entry fee's and we are only just getting by with our finances but not sinking just keeping the head above water,

5-6 weeks to we have Alex's Make-a-wish she is so looking forward to it

April and Easter weekend we have a Fancy Dress party on Saturday night at Friends and the girls are dressing up too ♥ should be a great night as I so need to let myself relax even a little.

The stress we have here is still high and now Hubby is feeling its pain :( he has a lump on his face and the Dr's have said Stress and it will turn into ulcers soon :'( we are both so much alike thinking of the girls and the other but forgetting oneself as well you need to look out for No.1 to look after others as they say...

Things to do in April
~ Fancy Dress party (30th Birthday)
~ Me Mammogram ( ARGH at being 40) plus getting back to Dr's for Ultrasound and blood results
~ Alex CT on the 14th
~ Alex and Robyn 2nd Swine flu shot after the 26th

well looks like we have a few things to do but looking forward to May too 5 weeks away and that will be a great month (I HOPE!!!!!) 5 weeks and COUNTING to Make a wish week ♥ 7th May

No new photos but will post after easter weekend to update on us all unless I have news before then hehe

we did the first lap and wow it was so emotional and after we had a High tea and talked to the cancer council and survivors, the QT reporter took Alex's Photo again hehe she may be in the local paper again as a great ambassador to the fight against Cancer and why not its a good cause that needs support ( but don't get me wrong there are so many great causes that need support in there own way)
here are some Photos from Today

we are in this video from the Queensland cancer council relay for life, at the start when it says Ipswich you can see Robyn  the blue hat in the back just left of the HOPE banner, she was on Daddies shoulders♥

March, nearing the end of another month

well Friday today the 26th march update for the last week
On one note its now 4 months out from Chemo ♥

well I have been back to the Dr about my health nothing serious just that I cry over small things and I am always tired I had bloods done and an ultrasound will go back next week to see him for results but he thinks its just stress from my lovely life hehe and I have got depression nothing big and no meds needed so will see how everything goes.

tomorrow we have the Relay For Life Survivors walk at 3pm in Ipswich QLD Alex will wear her survivors sash and think Daddy and Robyn will be walking with us :) ♥

Today we are to go to the Oncology out-patience dept for swine flu shots H1N1, the girls will have this and instead of the 2nd one in 4 weeks they will get the normal flu shot as it has swine flu in it too... but Robyn has a temp last night so will be calling them to be sure we can go ahead don't want to make her worse :(

edit we have had the H1N1 swine flu shot I could get the seasonal one but this is not free like the swine and is not a full dose so may not cover people,  Robyn will get the 2nd one in 4 weeks and Alex will either get the seasonal or swine depending on the Dr as she gets it free, the Clown Dr's helped as Alex screamed even before they got near her :( and even joked as my Tattoo was on that side to say that it turned into a lovely heart ♥

* ~ Photo Of Alex at the school at the hospital well in out-patience while we wait she also got to see the Clown Dr's ~ *

12 months ago today

this week last year I was stressed about Alex and a lump in her tummy plus her having constipation and tummy aches so was calling all Clinic's to get in.. Today 12 months ago I finally got Alex booked into see a Dr not the 21st, the 22nd but still was in and our lives changed forever. this week will be hard as All I keep thinking is what if I didn't pick it up or what if I let it ride etc, but I am a mother and worry over little things so wanted answers and well got then with-in 48 hrs as tomorrow would be 12 months from when the Dr said its a tumor Those dreaded words both Pete and I  felt the world stop :'( we had been given ultrasound papers with URGENT marked on them as it was a Sunday we had another few hrs to wait so Monday was the longest and hardest day in our lives 8am ultrasound on the 23rd March 2009 they called the Dr wanting to do CT scan this scared me to peaces and I stayed strong for the girls. they gave me the scans with NO Results and I was told to see my Dr again ASAP so we got straight in again and he just said Go to the Mater Hospital so I called Pete and he said go home I'll be there asap so I did which was a good thing as I got things for the girls we needed etc and street directory as I had no idea where anything was, then the long wait at one hospital to only be told we have to go to the Royal as they have the Oncology department, I with Robyn got home at 12 midnight and we where back in there at 7am as I so wanted to be with my big baby Girl...

It has been a hard and testing year for us all and we have had so many bad things happen but on the good note Alex has finally finished treatment and we are in maintenance mode so little steps forward for us as tomorrow is unknown to everyone, we just pray that she stays on the road to recovery, and she keeps growing into the strong special little girl we love and cherish

~To Jab or not to Jab Thats the question~ "Swine Flu!!!!!"

Well I have finally heard back from Oncology about the Vaccine we can all have it and are waiting on if Alex should too or not so should know Monday then its Jab time for the whole Thomas Family :( I hate needles but as this will keep us on the Well side of things Ill do anything to keep these bad colds etc away from our house and Alexandria. but saying that an not sold on the vaccine either should we/ shouldnt we???

Alex is doing well at school and her teacher has said she is best friends with a few of the children and really gets on well with the boy that is a bully but not with her any more, she joins in with everything,  Robyn is loving her child care days too.  on of the mum's at the school raised almost $3000.00 for the great shave and she shaved her hair off she didn't even know that their was a cancer kid at the school ( we are not leukemia but still cancer research etc)

we all have bad Sinus I thought it was a cold but NO its hay-fever ARGH but at least its not an issue with Alex :) so no temps etc hehe...

next weekend we have the Relay for life Survivors walk :) should be a good afternoon the 27th will post some photo's as we will be in sashes etc :) and why not its a great cause that is trying to raise money for cancer research and well we do need a cure for this..

this is just a small update will do more soon
and yes changed the blog look again as well st Patrick's day is over lol and did like the movie Avatar :)

"hope the weekend is special to all in that small way as every minute is precious"

update on us

well today I have kept Alex home under oncology advice as the school has had 3 confirmed cases of Whooping cough and the last was in her class she was happy to stay home though,, but in saying that I feel like an idiot keeping a well child home when so many say WHY she is not a baby or at High Risk??? we have 3 months before they will look at updating her immunizations so I can be over protective plus what if she gets very sick its hospital still for us

Tomorrow Alex will be having her photo taken with her Daddy for the QT  daddy will be in full dress uniform too, (RAAF) with the team that is doing the Relay for life (RAAF Team)  her story is to show that this can effect everyone at any age even a 4-5 yr old Child, I will be getting a few papers to send to family in South Australia, plus keeping one for our family scrap book and hope to get a scan or web photo to post here ♥

we had no rain today too first in a couple of weeks hehe my poor washing lol...
ok only a small update, I am still having stress issues and think I am losing my mind some days, just feel like crying and hiding away but both girls are also extra clingy to me no idea why either but every day I hug them close and am thankful for what we have,
I have also started to look at all the positive in this year so far it is
* no Chemo
* Alex has Hair
* No more blood tests unless she is sick still have port accessed every 6-8 weeks though
* Alex is at school and loving it
* I Finished my studies and got mostly {HD}
what we have to look forward to this year
* make a wish week on the Gold Coast Alex's dream time
* immunizations updated ( not a good thing but will give us peace of mind)
* port removal near the end of the year ( this is a good sign that the Dr is 100% happy with test results and no growth in Lymph Nodes(Tumors on aorta)
* actually celebrating everyone's Birthdays as we had no time or was busy last year with it all
* Camp Quality we will be trying to go at least once a year to something and hope to get to a camp just to get out and meet others in the same situation for the camps plus the girls get the kids camp, they offer special events through out the year so far only been to the circus,
* having Easter Fun as last year we got home from Hospital on the 1st April and Alex hated Chocolate by then :( she still don't eat much sweets but at least it will be a great weekend after the one last0 year still getting use to what we had been told

there is more but this is something I keep looking at and saying 2010 is our year to move forward

now that I have finished my studies I am going to get stuck into learning photography for myself and fitness for my health these are small goals it keeps me focused on other things to help me feel human some days stupid I know but that is my new life...

22nd March 2009  I took Alex to the Dr about  a lump after which we where told was a Liver Tumor by the Dr but after a ultrasound the next day 23rd March,  and them wanting to do a CT we knew it was not good we got told to go straight to the Brisbane Mater hospital and stayed in outpatient there til 8pm then went to RCH about 9pm and was admitted to Banksia at The Royal Children's Hospital Brisbane and started chemo 4 days later after surgery and biopsies know wonder I am losing it thinking about this month last year

school notes

well today it was raining and both girls where ready for school/Child care ( My me day) so off we go all in rain coats etc  poor Robyn threw up just at the doors to the child care so well that stopped her going and I took Alex to school then. Robyn was fine later that day

I picked up Alex from school normal time it was sunny but by the time the bell rang it was bucketing down Lucky she has her coat but Robyn and mine were both in the car :o... Alex had a note from the school too
Whooping Cough is going around the school ( the dreaded children illnesses I have been worried about had struck while she is still waiting for tests and re immunisations ( 6 months from end of chemo is when they start to think about them and then only if all goes well ( in our case so far all is going wonderfully) so I now have to worry that she may have come into contact with this bug and if she starts coughing badly and gets a temp its hospital but if anyone in her class gets it its time off school for her too...

For those that have asked in the past, we are not in remission yet and will not be classed as that til we have been cancer free for min 3 yrs, and after 5 even better there is no end but we know she will lead a healthy happy life and well we will do everything in our power to make her life and Robyns the best we can :) (funds pending of cause as we do need to live too)

On a good note this made me ask questions I kept forgeting but also opened my eyes to what can be not good for us we are in maintainance mode and well its one day at a time...

we have been invited to a birthday night soon too looking forward to that and Make-a-wish should be back with info for us soon too may is not that far away for her wish :)
