Falls and spills by Children (fracture scare)

yesterday Alex was not feeling to good but she was happy to go to school. she is loving playing in the play ground and the monkey bars ( these give me a small worry as she has now learnt to climb them and I fear the worst about a fall and broken bones) well yesterday afternoon Alex fell off the slippery dip ( no not the monkey bars) hurt her arm the school did not call me to let me know she was hurt and she wanted mummy :( as her arm was still sore once we got home and she was having some issues with using it to the Max so ended up taking her to the surgery to see a Dr. they wanted an X-Ray but that will have to wait til the morning as the X-Ray department was closed, I did get her checked for her toilet issues and possible UTI so she is also now on anti-biotics for that the Dr wants to be sure as we can not give her anything over the counter for these issues with only one kidney and we do not want her getting a kidney infection either better to be sure she is all good ♥

today she stayed home from school due to the X-Ray at 8.30-9am and then waiting around for the Dr to see us again. the results showed all clear but she has strained the wrist and lower arm so no school and rest If that is possible lol. Alex was a good patient at X-Ray with all she has this was easy lol. the Dr was worried about a green fracture but he could not see anything so we wait to hear from the Dr's but No News is always good news.. and well a fractured wrist is nothing to this family hehe. but still scary

both girls slept with me all night and Daddy got booted to the spare room he actually got a good sleep til the 4am sunrise lol.

Tomorrow we are looking at getting some photos done of our family and of the girls will post link etc once I know details etc. but should be fun hehe even with our hair ready for the greatest shave in 2 weeks and CT is in 12 days too so hope that shows stable nodes and we can relax again for a few more weeks :)

Interviewed again for QT

on Thursday I received an email from the leukaemia foundation about the QT ( Queensland Times) doing an interview about us for the Worlds Greatest Shave, the reporter called on Monday afternoon to make a time and day, she remembers Alex from last year when she did the interviews for the Relay for life.

I spent some of today cleaning and sorting photos out for them, as It is my child free day :), but I did have a trip to the shops as Alex wrecked her school shoes this morning so bought 2 new pairs 1 for school and some sneakers

tonight the reporter came to interview us plus asked to use one of my photos I have on our sponsor page.
we are a cancer Family doing this so not for Leukaemia but for a cure. and so many chemo's are the same all round ARGH!!!
also the funding also helps families with accommodation ( we are one of those families)

the one above is edited to remove sores from both girls ♥and the one the Paper took to use to show where we came from

Our First Camp away "Camp Quality"

what a weekend we have had on the valentines weekend of all things too and up on the sunshine coast
Noosaville, at the Ivory Palm Resort

Camp Quality family camp

This is our family’s first camp family

Friday ~ : we drive from Ipswich through Brisbane and headed up to the sunshine coast at Noosaville. Camp weather was warm and overcast, the forecast was for scattered showers for the whole weekend, we stayed in Noosaville on the sunshine coast a 2.5 hour drive up north for us and a lovely drive it wasWe had rooms at the Ivory Palms resort and had a 2 bedroom 3 bathroom town-house to ourselves. thanks to B****Hin betty ( the nokia mobile free GPS. On the Nokia N97 mini yes not through Telstra they disable this and charged me so lucky Hubby had his with virgin) we arrived early so went to the local shops to get some supplies we thought we may need (Milk etc) this was at Tewantin just over one of the smaller rivers running into the Noosa River. the girls had some lunch and we played in the playground near woolies then  went for a stroll down the street and grabbed some needed supplies before lunch then a play in the local park with lunch from a local bakery, the girls had a ball in the park and it was slowly getting warmer for us up here too. We ended up at the resort at 1.30pm and had to wait around for the camper team to arrive, then we got our room key and breaky hamper, (never being on a camp before we had no idea what to expect and got so much food given to us, bacon, eggs, cereal, 2 litres milk, snack bars, and so forth ) we also received our name tags and what to expect, we got to our room a town house with 2 bedrooms 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms with a spa in the master bathroom which we did not get to use :(... we had a balcony view of the bowls ground next doorover the weekend, most of the campers are on their first Family camp and some are still undergoing the treatment road but we are all part of one special family that no one wants to join and you cannot unless a child is diagnosed in your family. But we do stand strong :D

Friday arvo we spent in the room then went and tried out the pools, 2 of the 3 in the resort. At 6pm we had a intro and dinner night at the conference room and it was great meeting fellow families and we had another family at our table. A mum and Daughter aged 11, we came 4th in the trivia night and we had a ball :D arriving back at the room we had fireworks from our balcony to watch as well now the fun starts getting to very tired but excited young ladies to rest sometime soon... this is saying that at 9pm they are still going hehe

Then back to the room for the night Saturday we have a fun morning and massages afternoon to look forward too.....

both girls had a late night plus we forgot Elliot (Childhood Cancer Associations Dog toy Alex loves and takes almost everywhere) so Alex was not a happy camper at bed time

Bruce Highway
we headed up the Coast to the sunshine coast at Noosaville for our very First Camp Quality

Giant shell at Tewantin near Noosaville Sunshine Coast Queensland Australia
Playground at Tewantin
Fireworks for the Flood-stock (Woodstock) ( for all the flood victims) this is from our balcony over the bowls club house...

Saturday :~  today we had breakfast provided by the camp team leaders of bacon and eggs, Robyn wet the bed and slept through it ( she is the sleep walker we worried about due to the stairs) Alex slept walked and tried climbing into Robyn's bed but I heard the noise and this was when I found the wet bed ( Robyn has never had an accident before :(  )   we washed everything as it had a mattress liner so all was good... then after breaky we headed outa cruise on a sail boat on the river in the morning with the group :)  and pool fun in the afternoon as a family

we went to the local sailing and rowing club, the girls tried fishing and Alex caught the first fish for the day with mums help and her first fish too ( today was her first try at fishing and she loved it)  Robyn got her face painted (I missed this photo as I was with alex and catching the first fish ♥) Alex also went our with me for a sail but after a short time was scared about falling in even with the life jacket. we didn't head back straight away though but when we got back Robyn was feral, she just had had enough and any family with a 4 year old would understand how they get ARGH!!!, so we decided it was time to leave and head back to the room as she was tired, and we were embarrassed,  1pm we got some food from the BBQ we missed at the sailing club,  we missed out on this due to the girls decided it was pool time so we had some swimming and we had 2 other families from our camp there as well as another family staying at the resort. well I did as Daddy took Girls to the pool, then I joined the pool fun til 150pm and needed to head back to the room with the girls as I had a 2pm Massage and Hubby had a 2.30pm one. when I got back and Hubby left both girls where tired and didn't take long for them to crash (alex first) so when they woke we went to join theCrafts etc but they had moved outside and the Wii had moved to the other room. we missed the wii to the girls disappointment but beading and colouring in went down well ♥  then it was  back to the room before dinner at the restaurant RED AND WHITE, for valentines
Daddy fishing with Robyn, I was with Alex  but took this photo
Alex with some help from Mummy caught her first fish (she was also the first for the day to catch a fish she has patience ♥)
Ready to sail
us heading back in

Pool fun below
our unit ( resort town house in in the far distance ) we could see this pool from the front door
Sunday :~  the 13th this is the last day we could have done the jet ski morning and then BBQ but as we still had a 2-3 hour drive ahead decided after  8.45-9am. check out was 10 am. as we cleaned out the town house  doing the dishes we broke a plate so took the broken one to reception to pay for the damage. (it was $2.85 Australian).  we had originally decided to go meet friends and also a trip to the Australian zoo but on leaving Alex had her headaches so due to this wanted to just go home. we headed home with a stop at Ipswich Hungry jacks for Lunch. (headaches this weekend bought to Alex from excessive fun and Sun)

We had lovely weather and met new families so will defiantly be looking forward to our next camp in the future, plus now know we are not alone in the feeling of loss and isolation due to this horrid cancer, "Childhood Cancer", does not matter what one you have you are part of this family that you can not join but become life members when a child gets diagnosed. we met families off treatment and from New Castle and others from all over southern Queensland either off treatment or still going but getting close to the end. I can only hope for good results for them all. we hope to see these families again on our next camp, and it will be interesting to see how they go ( and us) being apart

the Childhood Cancer Family is an exclusive group by diagnosis only and a group no one wants to join but we stand strong together...
Hug your loved ones every chance you get ♥♥♥

remember I am Doing the worlds greatest Shave ( I am colouring but hubby is shaving)
Alex's Wilms Warriors             "Australian" sponsor if you can even the smallest amount adds up towards the one GOAL that CURE all Cancer Families want

we do not have much here for Childhood cancer so this is my start to giving back, we are also on the survirours walk for Relay for life 2011 in October :)

I am sad I didn't get more photo's but am sending our old camera with the girls for their first junior camp so hope to get more back then :)

hot weather and a family fun weekend

on Saturday we went down to the large local shopping centre, they had alot on for the kids with the Gold coin donation for flood victims, the girls got a sort of show bag with a few goodies and they had a ride on the mini Merry Go Round hehe fun fun, they did want the bouncy castle but as both has 2 sore arms from needles on Friday we talked them out of it as they also both had low grade fevers on Friday night which ended up with Alex in our bed all night and Robyn in by 11pm so was a little squishy for Mummy lol♥♥ but I do love cuddles with my princess's Alex and Robyn ♥...

enjoying the Merry-Go-Round at the mall

Woody and Buz girls :) ♥ Saturday at the shopping mall

Thursday Night  "so cute" ♥♥

we got the girls a new Wii game to play and Alex played it for the rest of the day in the coolness of the lounge, Robyn had a nap which is so unlike her but as the fever and needles together with the heat in QLD I was not stressing ( this is my non cancer child who I stress as much about as Alex)

on Sunday we finally got to the local Art Museum and got to check out the F 1-11 that is on show ( in pieces but you get to see everything)

^  the girls in the fun kids zone at the gallery :) they had a ball

Monday back to school and we got a lovely storm this morning with heavy rain, but the humidity was YUCK once the sun came up  ARGH

girls are so looking forward to camp Quality will post when we get back with Photos etc  hope its a lovely weekend for us all and that the weather is good too.

More immunizations

Today Alex had immunizations on, was suppose to be next Friday but we need her well for a camp soon so the Hospital bought them forward for us so she will be over them and also be able to enjoy the camp with Camp Quality soon ♥

this was the first day she has had off from School this year and it is just for appointments, last year we had a hospital stay in her first week back at school so am thankful for her health being good ♥
on a good note she only needed 2 today as the MMR immunity was in her blood but the chicken pox was not ( strange as we got exposed twice last year and neither of the girls got them Thankfully but we still had to cancel everything)  one left to go and that is the chicken pox part 2 so 4 + weeks time she will get that one done and be fully immunized again, the clinic also did Robyn's 4 year old immunizations while we were there so this made it easier for Mummy and Alex didn't feel like its always her getting the jabs, now to wait out our first Family camp this month :D should be a wonderful weekend away for us all...

yesterday we also got our next camp details the girls are going away with a companion for 2 nights :o what will Mummy and Daddy do with no little girls to keep us busy!!! I will miss them but will be nice to rest up and try not to stress hehe, maybe a movie would be good with Hubby ♥

they have these band-aides on both arms  ♥
on a bad note went to re register the trailer and the indicators will not work so tried to remove cover top replace and the screws are rusted in  wow not bad for a trailer that was brand new when we moved to QLD lets hope it lasts longer than this as they are not cheap ARGH.. so it isn't registered YET will get new lights in full now and a rego label holder as well tomorrow so next Wednesday we will drag the beast to the depo to be checked and re registered hehe not a good start to the weekend but it can only get better from here ♥♥

play time after the 15 min cool off then we went home as was 34o and humid  so out of the sun and staying cool

to stress or not!!!

this weekend has been full on with the girls fighting and screaming but to top it off Miss Robyn has been in pain with when she goes to the toilet this is setting alarm bells off as well UTI and kidneys are all interconnected, I will be taking her to the Dr and stressing that My older child had a wilms Tumor and that this can present in this way ARGH, I have been told by 2 different Dr's that yes it can run in families and No it does not I have tried to look it up online but no luck so I am hoping I am just a worry wart and that Robyn has a little dehydration with the QLD heat and not drinking enough water to flush her system

on top  of that Alexandria has been getting more headaches and they have her screaming at us about them, I have been told that unless she is vomiting from pain to just watch them but as she has a high pain thresh-hold I know she is suffering due to night time when she is sleeping the pain wakes her crying

on a good note Alex's headaches are possible due to the lovely Queensland heat  and humidity and that Robyn's issues are also due to these as she has no lumps in her abdomen but something we will need to keep an eye on.

this week is looking good with Alex getting  her immunizations (re boosters) on Friday ( robyn now due for her 4 year old ones too)   and may look at the art museum on the weekend just waiting to see where Hubby will be sent with the cyclone help either here or sent away as his work are the evac party  helping at both ends

yes QLD has been hit again with another natural distaster and this time a cyclone hitting Townsivlle and higher  catogory 5 :O I just hope everyone see's this storm through

http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml

yes its above us but still people can get hurt and it will effect an already hard hit Queensland state, I just wish I could do more
Hubby has now put up his hand as what else can we do but help fellow australians out and that is what the defence are suppose to do ♥
