Our First Camp away "Camp Quality"

what a weekend we have had on the valentines weekend of all things too and up on the sunshine coast
Noosaville, at the Ivory Palm Resort

Camp Quality family camp

This is our family’s first camp family

Friday ~ : we drive from Ipswich through Brisbane and headed up to the sunshine coast at Noosaville. Camp weather was warm and overcast, the forecast was for scattered showers for the whole weekend, we stayed in Noosaville on the sunshine coast a 2.5 hour drive up north for us and a lovely drive it wasWe had rooms at the Ivory Palms resort and had a 2 bedroom 3 bathroom town-house to ourselves. thanks to B****Hin betty ( the nokia mobile free GPS. On the Nokia N97 mini yes not through Telstra they disable this and charged me so lucky Hubby had his with virgin) we arrived early so went to the local shops to get some supplies we thought we may need (Milk etc) this was at Tewantin just over one of the smaller rivers running into the Noosa River. the girls had some lunch and we played in the playground near woolies then  went for a stroll down the street and grabbed some needed supplies before lunch then a play in the local park with lunch from a local bakery, the girls had a ball in the park and it was slowly getting warmer for us up here too. We ended up at the resort at 1.30pm and had to wait around for the camper team to arrive, then we got our room key and breaky hamper, (never being on a camp before we had no idea what to expect and got so much food given to us, bacon, eggs, cereal, 2 litres milk, snack bars, and so forth ) we also received our name tags and what to expect, we got to our room a town house with 2 bedrooms 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms with a spa in the master bathroom which we did not get to use :(... we had a balcony view of the bowls ground next doorover the weekend, most of the campers are on their first Family camp and some are still undergoing the treatment road but we are all part of one special family that no one wants to join and you cannot unless a child is diagnosed in your family. But we do stand strong :D

Friday arvo we spent in the room then went and tried out the pools, 2 of the 3 in the resort. At 6pm we had a intro and dinner night at the conference room and it was great meeting fellow families and we had another family at our table. A mum and Daughter aged 11, we came 4th in the trivia night and we had a ball :D arriving back at the room we had fireworks from our balcony to watch as well now the fun starts getting to very tired but excited young ladies to rest sometime soon... this is saying that at 9pm they are still going hehe

Then back to the room for the night Saturday we have a fun morning and massages afternoon to look forward too.....

both girls had a late night plus we forgot Elliot (Childhood Cancer Associations Dog toy Alex loves and takes almost everywhere) so Alex was not a happy camper at bed time

we headed up the Coast to the sunshine coast at Noosaville for our very First Camp Quality

Saturday :~  today we had breakfast provided by the camp team leaders of bacon and eggs, Robyn wet the bed and slept through it ( she is the sleep walker we worried about due to the stairs) Alex slept walked and tried climbing into Robyn's bed but I heard the noise and this was when I found the wet bed ( Robyn has never had an accident before :(  )   we washed everything as it had a mattress liner so all was good... then after breaky we headed outa cruise on a sail boat on the river in the morning with the group :)  and pool fun in the afternoon as a family

we went to the local sailing and rowing club, the girls tried fishing and Alex caught the first fish for the day with mums help and her first fish too ( today was her first try at fishing and she loved it)  Robyn got her face painted (I missed this photo as I was with alex and catching the first fish ♥) Alex also went our with me for a sail but after a short time was scared about falling in even with the life jacket. we didn't head back straight away though but when we got back Robyn was feral, she just had had enough and any family with a 4 year old would understand how they get ARGH!!!, so we decided it was time to leave and head back to the room as she was tired, and we were embarrassed,  1pm we got some food from the BBQ we missed at the sailing club,  we missed out on this due to the girls decided it was pool time so we had some swimming and we had 2 other families from our camp there as well as another family staying at the resort. well I did as Daddy took Girls to the pool, then I joined the pool fun til 150pm and needed to head back to the room with the girls as I had a 2pm Massage and Hubby had a 2.30pm one. when I got back and Hubby left both girls where tired and didn't take long for them to crash (alex first) so when they woke we went to join theCrafts etc but they had moved outside and the Wii had moved to the other room. we missed the wii to the girls disappointment but beading and colouring in went down well ♥  then it was  back to the room before dinner at the restaurant RED AND WHITE, for valentines
Daddy fishing with Robyn, I was with Alex  but took this photo
Alex with some help from Mummy caught her first fish (she was also the first for the day to catch a fish she has patience ♥)
Ready to sail
us heading back in

Pool fun below
our unit ( resort town house in in the far distance ) we could see this pool from the front door
Sunday :~  the 13th this is the last day we could have done the jet ski morning and then BBQ but as we still had a 2-3 hour drive ahead decided after  8.45-9am. check out was 10 am. as we cleaned out the town house  doing the dishes we broke a plate so took the broken one to reception to pay for the damage. (it was $2.85 Australian).  we had originally decided to go meet friends and also a trip to the Australian zoo but on leaving Alex had her headaches so due to this wanted to just go home. we headed home with a stop at Ipswich Hungry jacks for Lunch. (headaches this weekend bought to Alex from excessive fun and Sun)

We had lovely weather and met new families so will defiantly be looking forward to our next camp in the future, plus now know we are not alone in the feeling of loss and isolation due to this horrid cancer, "Childhood Cancer", does not matter what one you have you are part of this family that you can not join but become life members when a child gets diagnosed. we met families off treatment and from New Castle and others from all over southern Queensland either off treatment or still going but getting close to the end. I can only hope for good results for them all. we hope to see these families again on our next camp, and it will be interesting to see how they go ( and us) being apart

the Childhood Cancer Family is an exclusive group by diagnosis only and a group no one wants to join but we stand strong together...
Hug your loved ones every chance you get ♥♥♥

remember I am Doing the worlds greatest Shave ( I am colouring but hubby is shaving)
Alex's Wilms Warriors             "Australian" sponsor if you can even the smallest amount adds up towards the one GOAL that CURE all Cancer Families want

we do not have much here for Childhood cancer so this is my start to giving back, we are also on the survirours walk for Relay for life 2011 in October :)

I am sad I didn't get more photo's but am sending our old camera with the girls for their first junior camp so hope to get more back then :)
