Flu's and Bugs :(

"small update nothing new or bad"
well we have all had flu's and bugs this last week, Lucky Alex is not having chemo or we would be in trouble... she got a cold first then gastro ( slightly) Robyn also got them both and I have them both now too... I am the only one with high temps so another thing that am happy about as the girls don't need to get sick :(... Robyn is on antibiotics as yesterday the 26th February we spent a few hours at the hospital DEM as she has an infected toe not good they have said to keep an eye on her,

not much else happening here Alex has a student free day Monday so she is home... and we are just trying to rest up and get over this flu etc...

still no word on the scans so am hoping that is good as Dr may not have seen them yet but think its the better that he has and is happy :) ( well I am trying to stay optimistic as who would want to know the bad  and hoping there is no bad :)  )

Scan and Dr's visit

well this last week Alex has had a sniffy Nose and a barky cough so tuesday I kept her home as was worried she wouyld get sick before her appointments today, but no change,

we headed in after dropping Robyn into Childcare for the day and we got caught in Brisbane peak hr traffic and ended up being 15 min late but I did call them to say we where caught up in the traffic and would be there soon. we arrived at the department with ease and waited around for a couple of minutes then was called in for the Ultra sound first alex was hungry as she has to fast for 6 hrs ARGH she did have sipps of water though they did the scan then sent us out to wait for the X-Ray which was a short wait then in and out quickly, but as we where leaving get told we have to get some extra stuff done with the Ultrasound so sit back down,

back in the waitring room is another oncology mum and child we met when we first came in their Daughter is in maintainance mode further along that alex but its great to see others at the end and hope they stay happy and healthy, they were waiting for the same tests (US and X-Ray) so we put them back :(  they call us back in to messure her kidney again as its now doing the job of 2 they wanted to make sure all is well, so then we get sent out poor alex had been Coughing the whole time and I was worried about her spreading germs. at the outpatience dept they isolate us just incase and I put a mask on her to be 100% sure she is not creating issues for others, they do bloods and port, then we wait as our appointment was for 2.20pm they got us through at 10.45am so that was great, alex's chest is clear but to keep an eye on her so she is happy about school tomorrow. we are booked in for the next CT on the 14th April (6 weeks) so went down to make the appointment and they say the sonographer wanted us back I asked about it as we had been back already this morning but they said yes again he wanted to douible check another area so we wait again , alex by this time had a roll and some cordial so her tummy was not empty but they where not worried the sonographer and their DR sat in on the Ultra sound and didnt really tell me much but now have me a little worried as

they had not sent any reports through to Tim (Our Dr ) so we have to wait til he reviews them at some stage???????I did find out how aggressive the cancer she has can be her kidney would have doubled-trippled in size in a day OMG that is fast no wonder they only remove a whole part no parts as if its exposed will spread through the body so quickly ( yes another stress to play in my mind ARGH)

 finally we get to come home, Alex sleeps and then sleeps more at home this is another worry for me as I think this is not her but she is herself now, I go get Robyn from Childcare and she has had a great day with NO accidents too so proud of her

so now we are on the waiting game to see if there is an issue with the Ultrasound or not but No News is good news :)

After a long day and not being 100% is a Strain on her but she is allowed to go back to school tomorrow ♥

***Added note I spoke to the teacher and we were not the first to complain so it is an issue they are dealing will thankfully as wow to being a bully in Prep ARGH ***

cancer effects us all in some way  be it a friend or family member or even ourselves that suffer from it but it does not discriminate against anyone we are all at risk so hope that one day they do find that cure so it can help ease the pain and suffering that is involved,

another week down and dealing with all the stress

well all has been pretty good (touch wood) And alex is enjoying school ( she has been picked on so they have a bully at the school and I will be talking to the teacher on monday about this.) they both will not sleep unless I hold them til they fall asleep I do love the closeness and that Mummy is the limelight but why now.. I have been stressed and mourning the last few weeks plus started talking more to Social workers that are on our case which is a good thing as I can get it out more,  talking really does help and I have been told to CRY as I need to sometimes, I am doing everything right but still feel I have done everything wrong,

"to all my friends I am so happy you are in my life as support as I so need you even just for a coffee and talk I can not explain what I am fully going through but just knowing people are there as an ear or shouldre are very much appreciated,"

sorry I have really not done much of an update am a little worried as we all have colds again (from the school) and Alex has scans wednesday and Dr Visit I am hoping that I may start her on Vitamins as she is not really eating much that would be giving her what she needs and hope the scans are clear still and stay that way the unknown is so not a good thing I just want to know we are at an end and well their is never a end when its Cancer :'(  I did donate to a friend doing the relay for life as Hubby was going to but he didnt get his registration in on time ??? may see if he can still get it in as this is our lives and we need to do this as giving back helps to make it a little more understood and helps others that I would not wish this on ♥

OK bath time for Girls and bed I hope then a nice evening with Hubby watching a movie :) so need a me day I think :(

I am also having some issues with my last assignment just have lost focus and only a few weeks to finish :(

weekend Guest (Teddy from School on sleepover♥)

well this weekend is alex's sleep over with Teddy

Teddy is a  friend from school that spends every weekend with one on the children in the class and alex was chosen to have him stay so its been a busy weekend of photos and fun♥

we have been sort of busy the last week, Alex spent the whole week at school but she does have a cold ARGH ( so does nearly every kid in her class) we also got the RED letter ( headlice) so had to do the checks but all clear in this house so far. thursday Alex took her puppy ( Childhood Cancer Puppy) Elliot to school for show and tell. she was so proud to show her friend that goes everywhere with her when she has hospital trips etc ♥

Today is Valentines day so the girls and I made Daddy breakfast in bed but he got up once it was cooked and ate it in the kitchen ( the thought was there) the girls gave daddy a card each they made and I gave him one from us all all made not bought ♥

Alex is doing well her hair has grown and looks good she has gained some weight :) and is full of life like normal. we have next appointment on the 24th for ultrasound and Xray then see the Dr and next CT will be in 6-8 weeks after that so hope they tell us all is going well and no sign of groth etc in the lymph node tumors but One day at a time and deal wiith it as it needs to be done.

I have started my fitness efforts again and do belly dancing every thursday evening with a friend ( the next 2 weeks I am alone sort of lol) also doing interval training on bike and treadmill so hope to see my energy levels improve  and then see myself tone up etc as I am over weight but not fat as such  just need to lose a few kg's and get fit ( this is me wanting to give back as I want to be able to keep up with the girls etc...)

Small Update

well all going well Alex had her first swimming week at school on monday she loved it and the teacher was happy with her, we also had a dedication night last night the 10th Feb with a BBQ before hand the girls had a ball and Hubby got to meet the teachers from alex's class.
we also almost had an accident on way home at the traffic lights it was a green light for us so I started to go through the intersection when we heard breaks screaching I paniced ( as you do with any incident and with girls in car) as this car would have hit me and Robyn on the drivers side ARGH  its funny as the other sida had a green light forst so the way this car was going had red for awhile not just changed??? anyway I floored it to get through and he stopped in the other half of the road so was close( to close for my comfort) but no injuries or damage to others ( thankfully)  Alex of course panicked as well {{hugs}}

today Hubby is home and alex wants to go to school early lol so I have done her breaky and lunch ready then we will head off to get her to school on time Miss Robyn can stay home with a sleepy Hubby haha teach him I dont get sleep ins so why should he lol ( mean I know lol)

as he is home I may get stuck into my studies and work on my last assignment as then I can pass or fail and move on lol , fitness is my next goal want to be healthy for the girls

Back To school

Well after our few days at the hospital Alex was cleared to go to school today and now we know what will be our future when she gets sick... am happy to say being a small school a little less ( not much as schools are where infections etc start lol and shopping centres etc)

Alex was so happy to go and Robyn  went shopping and to a DCO open day :) we met some friends and wow does time fly when you are having fun hehe..got some freebees lol (pens Lots of Pens Thanks Robyn for that she just was a pen magnet lol)

also finished another assignment and got a HD was so thinking I had botched it but No did well :) so 1 to go then will look at my photography as courses etc that are around and maybe I can start a small business with that :)

♥ Home at Last♥

well sunday was a long day and night =[ i took Alex to DEM at about 6pm they had been told by brisbane we were on our way in... so had a small wait in the waiting room then into the cubical for the dr to check Alex and see what the next step would be the Dr was lovely she was also just from RBH so know how far we would normally travel, they checked Miss Alex over and her temps still stayed below 38 ( just) but that may have been due to panadol before we got told to go in. they finally did bloods and spoke to Brisbane oncology about what they should do ( we have finished Chemo in nov so was hoping all would be good and sent home) Brisbane wanted her watched incase the temp spiked so watched for 24 hrs at least then if it goes up antibiotics for 24-48 hrs ( full course)  so we had to wait around in DEM for awhile alex was Cold and shivering so she definatly had a fever but the temp was still 37.5 or just over!!!  finally brisbane called back and wanted her started on Antibiotics asap just incase so a drip was started alex napped and we waited some more... but midnight we got moved to a private room in the childrens ward and alex went back to sleep they took her temp and would you guess it  ( it was 40o) it had spiked like Brisbane had sort of forseen,

so luckily they had started antibiotics and now the waiting starts to see what it actually in as the cultures from her blood will take 48 hrs, I stayed with alex 2 nights and her temp finally started going down around 7pm monday night finally the bed was uncomfortable but I didnt care was so nice to just be with her as normally this is daddies part ♥  tuesday morning we had a visitor and seen Dr's they have told us as alex looks well and yes she was looking good ♥ that all test results coming in we could be home tonight...and on tuesday arvo Hubby took over as Robyn was getting feral and as we knew that we where waiting on blood cultures etc we should be all home tonight ♥I got home after lunch with Robyn and Hubby stayed at the hospital while I waited on the call to pick up Hubby and alex but OMG it feels good to be home,  but am still worried as this we thought was behind us but now know any infection we will have to be carefull about and that school is going to bring a few home... alex has missed 2 days so far and we will know more soon if she can go tomorrow or not but Robyn goes to Child care tomorrow so something to look forward too,  on a good note all alex's bloods that we got on sunday came back with good results so she has the counts to fight this and today she was so bright and happy she just wants to go to school lol.

I also went to the school teacher parent night which I forgot about then got the call I had been waiting for to pick alex up and have her home cultures all clear :)

now to see from The dr's if we can give her vitamins to help combat any new threats ??? as she is no longer undergoing treatment!!!
